Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • currant jelly

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and egg yolk together.
  2. Gradually add sugar, then flour, until the batter is firm enough to handle with your fingers (not sticking).
  3. Make small flat balls from the batter.
  4. Use the round end of a wooden clothespin to make an indentation (a small well) in the center of each ball.
  5. Pat currant jelly inside the well of each cookie.
  6. Place the cookies on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 325°F.
