- Put sugar and water in a saucepan.
- Stir until sugar is moistened.
- Add butter, salt, corn syrup, glycerine, and vanilla.
- Cook until the temperature reaches 270°F (soft crack stage). Do not stir while cooking.
- Pour into a shallow, buttered pan and cool until manageable.
- Take about 2 tablespoons of the candy and pull until white and porous, forming a 1/2-inch rope.
- Cut into pieces with shears to make approximately 1 1/2 pounds of candy.
