Tamala Pie
Ingredients
- 1 c. chopped onion ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. chives ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp. oregano ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. bacon grease ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. Cajun spice ⓘ
- 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 tsp. sage ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. parsley flakes ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. basil ⓘ
- pinch of red pepper ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. marjoram ⓘ
- 1 1/2 c. cooked grits ⓘ
- 1 c. shredded cheese ⓘ
Instructions
- Saut onions and garlic in bacon drippings; add meat and brown. Add the seasonings and simmer. Cook grits and then stir into meat mixture. Grease baking dish, then pour into baking dish. Top with shredded cheese. Bake in 350° preheated oven until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow cooling about 10 minutes before serving.
