- Mix oleo and sugar, adding one egg at a time with an electric mixer.
- Add the soaked anise seed mixture, baking powder, salt, and flour to the creamed mixture until combined; the dough will be soft.
- Oil hands and shape the dough into loaves about 2 inches wide and 1 inch high.
- Place the loaves on greased cookie sheets (about 3 rolls).
- Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes until golden.
- Remove from oven and slice the loaves into about 1/2-inch thick slices.
- Lay the slices on their sides back on the cookie sheet.
- Bake about 6 minutes on each side at 350°F until crisp.
