Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup quick-cook grits
  • 1 stick plus 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/3 cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly grease a shallow 2-quart baking dish.
  3. Combine milk, salt, and garlic powder in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  4. Stir in quick-cook grits and cook according to package instructions until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter until melted.
  6. Mix in shredded Cheddar cheese and sliced scallions.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
