Ingredients

  • 6 whole tomatoes
  • 2 large canned tomatoes
  • 4 slices French bread
  • 6 Tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Tbsp basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Remove skins from tomatoes and quarter them.
  2. Place tomatoes in a buttered casserole dish.
  3. Melt butter in a pan.
  4. Add crushed garlic and basil leaves to the melted butter.
  5. Cube the bread slices and add them to the seasoned butter.
  6. Saute bread cubes over low heat for a few minutes until lightly toasted.
  7. Spread the bread cubes over the tomatoes in the casserole.
  8. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 50 minutes until golden and bubbly.
