Ingredients

  • 2 cups Martha White self-rising flour
  • 3 heaping tablespoons butter flavor Crisco
  • buttermilk

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and shortening (Crisco).
  2. Blend until the mixture resembles only flour again.
  3. Add buttermilk, stirring, folding, and mixing until it forms a ball that does not stick to the sides of the bowl.
  4. Place the ball on a floured surface; knead until it becomes soft and manageable.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Cut out biscuits and place them in a greased pan.
  7. Bake in a 425°F oven until golden brown.
