- Wash greens; drain and chop into medium pieces.
- Peel turnips and quarter.
- Rinse salt pork; pat dry.
- Slice into 1/2-inch thick pieces.
- Cook pork slices in 8-quart Dutch oven until golden brown.
- Slowly pour in water and bring to a boil.
- Cook pork on low about 20 minutes or until tender.
- Add chopped turnip greens, onion and sugar.
- Cook slowly about 15 minutes.
- Add turnips and cook 15 minutes more or until all is tender.
