Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup coarsely ground walnuts
  • 1/2 scant cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 (1 oz. each) semi-sweet chocolate squares

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, coarsely ground walnuts, and sugar in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the butter or margarine until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Quickly stir in the vanilla and semi-sweet chocolate, being careful not to cream the mixture.
  4. Press the mixture into a 9-inch baking pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 50 minutes.
  6. Allow to cool completely.
  7. Break into pieces and serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
