Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 c. milk
  • 5 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 eggs
  • dash of salt
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk.
  2. Mix sugar, flour, and salt together.
  3. Add the mixture to the scalded milk in a heavy pan or double boiler.
  4. Stir constantly and cook until thick; add the slightly beaten eggs and cook for 2 minutes more.
  5. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla.
  6. Stir until smooth and the butter melts.
