Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all-bran (Bran Buds)
  • 3 tablespoons cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 packages dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Mix the oatmeal, whole wheat flour, all-bran, cornmeal, wheat germ, salt, molasses, vegetable oil, 1 1/2 cups water, and 1/2 cup flour.
  2. Put the mixture on low heat until almost boiling; it will become very thick.
  3. Let it cool to lukewarm and then add the remaining 1 cup warm water, the yeast, and continue to mix.
  4. Add the remaining flour and knead on an oiled board until the dough is glossy.
  5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until it doubles in size.
  6. Punch down the dough, knead briefly, then divide and put into 3 greased pans.
  7. Let the dough in the pans double in size again.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until golden brown.
