Tips & Substitutions

For this Warabi Rice, ensure your warabi is fresh and not overcooked to maintain its crunch. If warabi is unavailable, you can substitute with asparagus or green beans. When frying chirimen iriko, keep a close eye on them as they can burn quickly. For a vegetarian option, omit the kamaboko or use a plant-based alternative to keep the dish vegan.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Warabi Rice warm, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions for added flavor. It pairs wonderfully with pickled vegetables - peppers for a tangy contrast. This dish can be a main course or a side to grilled fish or tofu, making it versatile for different meals.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, add a splash of water and warm it in a microwave or on the stovetop to prevent the rice from drying out. Stir gently to combine the flavors before serving.
