Ingredients

  • 2 lb lean sirloin steak
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • dash of sugar
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon salad oil
  • 1 small clove garlic

Instructions

  1. Cut beef into strips, 1 x 2 inches long.
  2. Combine soy sauce, sugar, minced ginger, salad oil, and pressed garlic to make the marinade.
  3. Marinate meat in a tightly covered container for 5 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. String beef on metal skewers.
  5. Grill teriyaki on habachi for 3 minutes or until meat is tender but rare, turning once.
  6. Garnish with tiny cucumbers marinated in vinegar and soy sauce.
