Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup salad oil
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium-sized onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Heat the salad oil or cook bacon until crispy, then remove and set aside.
  2. Add minced garlic with salt to the hot fat and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add chopped onion and green pepper; cook slowly until the onion is limp and golden.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until well browned, stirring occasionally.
  5. Stir in canned tomatoes and simmer for at least one hour to develop flavors.
  6. Cook spaghetti in boiling salted water until barely tender; drain.
  7. Combine cooked spaghetti with the sauce and half of the cheese; taste and adjust salt if needed.
  8. Pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  9. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake at 275 to 300 degrees Fahrenheit for at least one hour, preferably 1.5 hours, until heated through and bubbly.
