Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups warm water
  • 1 yeast cake
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 to 6 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, salt, and oil in a saucepan.
  2. Add the yeast cake to the mixture. Stir a couple of times and let stand until the yeast forms little rising spots.
  3. Sift the flour into a large bowl, then add the other ingredients.
  4. Knead the dough well and let it rise until it doubles in size, about a couple of hours.
  5. Shape the dough into loaves or rolls and let them rise again.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown, about 30 minutes.
