  • 1 cup honey
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 5 cups warm mashed potato water
  • 3 tablespoons yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 6 cups whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix shortening, honey, salt, and warm mashed potato water.
  2. Add yeast dissolved in warm water to the mixture.
  3. Stir in whole wheat flour until well combined.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  5. Stir down the dough and add white flour.
  6. Knead in the white flour and let the dough rise again until doubled.
  7. Punch down the dough and shape into loaves, cinnamon rolls, or bread rolls.
  8. Let the shaped dough rise until puffy, then bake until done and golden brown.
