Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup wild rice
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • fresh ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring 2 1/2 cups of water to a boil and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of salt and the wild rice.
  2. Lower the heat and simmer the wild rice for 45 minutes.
  3. About halfway through cooking, bring the remaining 2 cups of water to a boil in a separate saucepan.
  4. Add the remaining salt and the long grain rice to the boiling water.
  5. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and simmer for about 18 minutes.
  6. Once both rice types are cooked, combine them and stir in the chopped pecans.
  7. Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste and serve.
