Ingredients

  • 3 lb chicken wings
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Singe the wings if needed.
  2. Cut off the tips of the chicken wings and discard.
  3. Divide each wing into two halves.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer on a broiler rack.
  5. Bake the wings for 30 minutes at 400°F.
  6. In a small saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, salt, ground ginger, pepper, water, lemon juice, and soy sauce.
  7. Stir constantly until the mixture boils; then boil for 3 minutes.
  8. Brush the sauce over the partially cooked chicken wings.
  9. Return the wings to the oven and cook for an additional 40 minutes, turning and basting with the remaining sauce periodically.
