Ingredients

  • 1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
  • 5 to 6 cups water
  • 3 beef bouillon cubes
  • 4 tablespoons mixed vegetable flakes
  • 4 tablespoons onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • dash of Tabasco
  • 1 small can mushrooms, drained

Instructions

  1. Combine tomato juice, water, bouillon cubes, vegetable flakes, onion flakes, parsley, and Tabasco in a stock pot; bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and continue to simmer for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  4. Optional: add 2 pounds of browned, drained ground beef to the soup.
  5. Serve hot with grilled cheese sandwiches and fruit dessert.
