Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 cups peeled and diced potatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 pound fish, crabmeat, shrimp or mixture of fish
  • 1 3/4 cups milk

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until golden brown.
  2. Add onions, potatoes, salt, pepper, and water to the bacon drippings.
  3. Cover and cook over moderate heat for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Add the boned fish to the pot.
  5. Cover and continue cooking until potatoes are done, about 10 to 12 minutes.
  6. Add the milk and heat thoroughly.
  7. Thicken the chowder slightly with a flour and water mixture.
