Wurstfest Sausage Roll

Instructions
- Combine yeast, warm water, and sugar; set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine shortening, sugar, salt, hot water, and beaten eggs; beat well.
- Add the yeast mixture to the egg mixture.
- Gradually add 2 cups of flour and beat well.
- Stir in another 2 to 2½ cups of flour to form a soft dough.
- Refrigerate in a large covered bowl overnight.
- Divide the dough into 3 portions.
- Roll each portion into a 1/4-inch thick circle.
- Cut each circle into 2-inch circles.
- Simmer sausage in a covered pan for approximately 5 minutes.
- Place a sausage piece in the center of each dough circle.
- Moisten the edges of the dough with a little water.
- Lap one side of the dough over the sausage and press the edges together to seal.
- Repeat with remaining dough and sausages.
- Place the rolls on a greased cookie sheet.
- Let rise for about 1 to 1½ hours or until doubled in size.
- Bake at 350°F for about 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
