Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 5 level teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Cream sugar and butter together until well combined.
  2. Add the egg yolks and beat well.
  3. Gradually add milk and flour, a small amount at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix baking powder with the flour before adding.
  5. Fold in the beaten egg whites until the batter is smooth.
