Zesty deviled eggs with a creamy filling flavored with mustard, mayonnaise, cheese, and herbs, perfect for parties, picnics, or as a savory appetizer for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 6 hard-cooked eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded process American cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. snipped parsley or 1 tsp. prepared horseradish

Instructions

  1. Cut peeled eggs lengthwise into halves.
  2. Slip out yolks and mash them with a fork.
  3. Mix the mashed yolks with salt, dry mustard, pepper, mayonnaise, shredded American cheese, and parsley or horseradish.
  4. Fill the egg whites with the yolk mixture, heaping it lightly.
  5. Arrange the filled eggs on a large serving plate.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for no longer than 24 hours.
  7. Garnish each egg half with cooked shrimp, rolled anchovy fillet, or sliced pimento-stuffed olive before serving.
