Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 cup scalded water or 2 cup scalded milk
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 5 tablespoon powdered egg or 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk
  • 7 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Put margarine, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Pour scalding water or milk over this mixture and add 1 cup of flour.
  3. When slightly cooled, add yeast dissolved in warm water.
  4. Add 3 cups of flour, eggs, and powdered milk.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Add 2 1/2 to 3 cups of flour and mix well.
  7. Turn out the dough onto a floured cloth and let rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  9. Turn over the dough in the bowl and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Shape the dough into loaves and let rise for 20 minutes.
  11. Bake for 25 minutes at 425°F.
