Ingredients

  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. water (cold)
  • 1/2 c. shortening or margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Stew the raisins in 2 cups of water for 15 minutes.
  2. Cool the raisin mixture, then add 1 cup of cold water, shortening, sugar, and spices. Mix well.
  3. Add flour and baking soda to the mixture.
  4. Pour the batter into a large angel food cake pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
