Ingredients

  • 2 c. water
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. Crisco
  • 1 pkg. mincemeat
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 1/2 c. diced apples (optional)
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Mix water, sugar, Crisco, and mincemeat and cook to a rolling boil.
  2. Continue cooking for 3 minutes.
  3. Stir a few times and set aside to cool until cold.
  4. Add remaining ingredients to the cold mixture.
  5. Bake in a tube pan for 60 to 70 minutes at 350° to 375°.
  6. Cool cake for 1 hour before removing from pan.
