Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 2/3 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Cream the sugar and margarine until well combined.
  2. Add cocoa and mix well.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition.
  4. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk with dissolved soda, mixing after each addition.
  5. Gradually add boiling water to the batter and mix thoroughly.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
