Ingredients

  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. Karo syrup (light)
  • 2 egg whites

Instructions

  1. Beat egg whites until they hold a stiff peak, about 2 minutes.
  2. Combine sugar, water, and light Karo syrup in a pan and stir.
  3. Place the pan on medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Boil the syrup until it spins a 6 to 8-inch thread or reaches 242°F (116°C).
  5. Pour the hot syrup slowly into the beaten egg whites, beating continuously.
  6. Continue beating until the frosting holds its shape with soft peaks.
  7. Use immediately; this frosting forms a crust, like divinity.
