Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine (1/2 stick slightly softened)
  • 1 Tbsp. anise seed
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Into a large bowl, measure 1 1/2 cups of flour and remaining ingredients.
  2. With a mixer at low speed, beat ingredients until just mixed.
  3. Increase speed to medium and beat 3 minutes.
  4. Scrape bowl occasionally with a rubber spatula.
  5. With spoon, stir in remaining 1 cup of flour.
  6. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm (or place dough in freezer for 30 minutes).
