Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon anise flavoring or seed

Instructions

  1. Generously grease cookie sheets.
  2. Sift together the flour and baking powder; set aside.
  3. Put the eggs into a liquid measuring cup; add enough water to make 1/2 cup liquid.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, and anise flavoring or seed.
  5. Beat until very thick and piled softly.
  6. Fold in the dry ingredients.
  7. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets, about 2 inches apart.
  8. Set aside in a cool place, uncovered, 8 to 10 hours or overnight.
  9. Do not disturb.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8 minutes.
