Instructions
- Cook rice in water until all water is absorbed.
- Add milk, butter, sugar, and vanilla to the cooked rice.
- Cook slowly in a heavy pot for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring often.
- During the last 15 minutes, add raisins if using.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
- Cool before serving.
- Top with cinnamon and/or nutmeg if desired.
