Ingredients

  • 3 cups dry bread cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a dash of nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • a dash of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a buttered 8 x 8-inch baking pan, layer half the dry bread cubes.
  2. Dot with small pieces of margarine.
  3. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, and ground cinnamon in a bowl.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread in the pan.
  5. Lightly sprinkle cinnamon over the top.
  6. Bake, uncovered, at 350°F (175°C) for about 50 to 60 minutes until set and golden.
