Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 2 c. chopped apples
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350° and melt margarine in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  2. In a saucepan, heat sugar and water until sugar melts.
  3. Cut shortening into flour until particles are fine crumbs.
  4. Add milk and stir.
  5. Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth.
  6. Roll dough into a large rectangle; spread apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  7. Roll up and slice into 1 1/2-inch pieces and lay apple side up carefully in the pan.
  8. Pour sugar syrup carefully around rolls.
  9. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.
