Ingredients

  • 1 slice white bread, toasted and cubed
  • 1 apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • cinnamon to taste

Instructions

  1. Place toasted, cubed bread in a small baking dish.
  2. Top the bread with thinly sliced apple pieces.
  3. In a bowl, beat the egg and then mix in milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread and apples in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle cinnamon on top of the mixture.
  6. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with a small amount of water to create a water bath.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes or until browned and set.
