- Cut off the top of each apple and save it as a lid.
- Carve out the core and a little bit of the inside of each apple with a spoon.
- Mix raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and chopped walnuts (if using) in a bowl.
- Fill the hollowed-out center of each apple with the raisin mixture.
- Place the tops back on each apple.
- Bake the apples in an ovenproof dish at 375°F (190°C) until the apples are tender and cooked through.
