Apple-Rice Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. wild rice
  • 1 1/3 c. water
  • salt to taste
  • 1 unpeeled apple, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 tsp. butter
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and drain; combine with water and salt to taste in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  3. Simmer, loosely covered, 45 minutes.
  4. Rice should be tender and most of the liquid absorbed.
  5. Let stand for 5 minutes; drain.
