Ingredients

  • smoked ham (butt)

Instructions

  1. Cut off the skin and as much fat as possible from the smoked ham (butt).
  2. Place the ham face cut side down in a roasting pan.
  3. Add 2 cups of water to the pan.
  4. Cover the pan with a lid or foil.
  5. Put the pan in a cold oven.
  6. Turn the oven to 400°F and then immediately turn it off.
  7. Leave the ham undisturbed in the oven for 2 hours.
  8. Turn the oven back on and heat to 400°F. When the temperature reaches 400°F, cook for an additional 20 minutes.
  9. Turn off the oven and leave the ham inside overnight.
  10. Do not open or remove the ham until the next morning.
