Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 8 slices whole wheat bread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions

  1. Cut bacon strips crosswise into 1/2-inch pieces.
  2. Cook bacon in a skillet until crisp; then remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Remove crusts from bread and reserve. Cut bread slices into cubes and set aside.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, shredded Cheddar cheese, and dry mustard.
  5. Layer bread cubes and crumbled bacon in a greased baking dish.
  6. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layered bread and bacon.
  7. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30 minutes or until golden and cooked through.
