Ingredients

  • 2 lb. lean stew meat
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. celery, diced
  • 4 to 5 potatoes, quartered
  • 1 slice white bread
  • 1 can tomatoes, mashed
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 6 to 8 carrots, quartered
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. Minute tapioca
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Mash the canned tomatoes and add Minute tapioca to them.
  2. Tear the white bread into tiny pieces and add to the tomato mixture.
  3. Add all other ingredients: cooked stew meat, diced celery, quartered potatoes, quartered carrots, chopped onion, salt, sugar, bay leaf, and water.
  4. Pour the mixture into a large greased casserole dish.
  5. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven, covered, for 3.5 to 4 hours.
