Baked Bunny Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • small gumdrops
  • honey
  • string licorice

Instructions

  1. Grease two cookie sheets.
  2. On a lightly floured bread board, cut the thawed bread dough into four equal sections.
  3. Divide each section in half to form two bunnies per section.
  4. Shape one half into a large oval for the bunny's body and place it on a cookie sheet.
  5. Divide the other half in half again.
  6. Form a round head with one piece and place it above the body on the cookie sheet.
  7. Divide the remaining piece in half again.
  8. Shape two ears from one half and make arms and legs from the other half.
  9. Attach the ears, arms, and legs to the bunny.
  10. Repeat for the second bunny on each cookie sheet, spacing them well apart.
  11. Brush the bunnies with beaten egg.
  12. Loosely cover them with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  13. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  14. Let cool before decorating.
