Ingredients

  • 1 qt stewed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 4 slices bread
  • 6 to 8 slices cheese (American, Velveeta, etc.)

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the stewed tomatoes in the dish.
  3. Sprinkle with half the salt, pepper, and sugar.
  4. Dot with half the butter.
  5. Top with half the cheese and half the bread, broken into pieces.
  6. Repeat the remaining ingredients in the same order.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes at 350°F.
