Basic Fondant Recipe

A versatile homemade fondant with a smooth, pliable texture, ideal for cake decorating and modeling, customizable with flavorings for a delightful sweet finish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. dry fondant sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. cream
  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. invertase (optional)
  • flavorings as desired

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl and blend until well combined.
  2. Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar if too wet, or more cream if too dry.
  3. Knead until the fondant reaches the consistency of cookie dough.
  4. Wrap in plastic and keep refrigerated in an airtight container; it will store for several months.
  5. Add 2 to 3 drops of desired candy oil flavorings to each 1/2 cup of prepared fondant before use.
