Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. Butter Buds
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 2 c. skim milk
  • 1 Tbsp. liquid Butter Buds
  • 2 c. elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 1 Tbsp. grated onion
  • 2 c. grated nonfat Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the white sauce by combining Butter Buds, flour, salt, and pepper, then slowly add skim milk.
  2. Stir with a wire whisk until smooth and thickened, then set aside.
  3. Spray a 2-quart casserole dish with nonfat cooking spray and place half of the cooked macaroni in the bottom.
  4. Sprinkle with half of the grated onion, salt, pepper, and grated nonfat Cheddar cheese.
  5. Repeat the layering with remaining macaroni, onion, salt, pepper, and cheese.
  6. Pour the prepared sauce over the casserole.
  7. Drizzle liquid Butter Buds over the top.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the casserole.
  9. Sprinkle stuffing over the top if desired.
  10. Cover and bake for 30 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
  11. Uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
