Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups butter (oleo)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon lemon flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with flour.
  5. Add vanilla and lemon flavorings and mix well.
  6. Grease a large tube pan and lightly sprinkle with flour.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
