Ingredients

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 rounded teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 (16 oz.) can cherry or peach pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place a stick of margarine in a 2 1/2-quart baking dish and melt in the oven while preheating.
  3. Meanwhile, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Stir in 3/4 cup of milk until the batter is thin.
  5. Pour the batter into the center of the melted margarine in the baking dish.
  6. Pour the cherry or peach pie filling into the center of the batter.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Serve warm or cold, optionally with whipped cream.
