Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 1/4 cups apple butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped, toasted walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 5/8-inch loaf pan.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Set aside.
  6. Sift and mix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, and allspice.
  7. Add to the creamed mixture, alternating with apple butter, and stir in nuts.
  8. Pour batter into the greased loaf pan.
  9. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove bread from the pan and cool thoroughly before slicing.
