Ingredients

  • 4 lb. thinly sliced round steak
  • 4 cups packaged herb-seasoned stuffing
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into 12 long pieces.
  2. Pound each piece with a hammer or heavy saucer to tenderize.
  3. Prepare the herb-seasoned stuffing according to package instructions.
  4. Place 1/2 cup of stuffing on each beef piece.
  5. Roll up each piece and fasten with toothpicks.
  6. Brown the roulades in a large skillet with the shortening.
  7. Pour off any excess fat from the skillet.
  8. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and water.
  9. Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally.
  10. Uncover and cook until the gravy reaches the desired consistency.
