- Cut the beef into 12 long pieces.
- Pound each piece with a hammer or heavy saucer to tenderize.
- Prepare the herb-seasoned stuffing according to package instructions.
- Place 1/2 cup of stuffing on each beef piece.
- Roll up each piece and fasten with toothpicks.
- Brown the roulades in a large skillet with the shortening.
- Pour off any excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup and water.
- Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until the meat is tender, stirring occasionally.
- Uncover and cook until the gravy reaches the desired consistency.
