Ingredients

  • 3 lb. beef stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup port wine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can onion soup, undiluted
  • 1 can mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 8 oz. can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a covered casserole dish and bake at 300°F for 3 hours.
  2. Serve over fluffy rice, noodles, or whipped potatoes. Thicken gravy if necessary.
  3. Raise oven temperature to 400°F.
  4. Remove cover from the pan and add a can of refrigerated canned biscuits on top of the stew.
  5. Bake until biscuits are browned.
  6. Bake extra biscuits to serve the stew over biscuits.
