Ingredients

  • 1 to 1.5 lb boneless chuck
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup cracked wheat #2, washed and drained
  • 1 can beef broth

Instructions

  1. Wash the meat and pat it dry.
  2. Cover the meat with water and bring to a boil; cook for 10 minutes, then discard the water.
  3. Add fresh water and boil the meat until tender.
  4. Shred the cooked meat and put it back in water, adding beef broth if needed for flavor.
  5. Wash the cracked wheat and add it to the beef mixture.
  6. Add spices and stir until the wheat is cooked and flavors are combined.
  7. Optional: Add 1-2 tablespoons of margarine or butter for extra flavor.
