Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 cups unsifted plain flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Pour boiling water over Crisco, salt, and sugar; beat in eggs.
  3. Stir the egg mixture into the Crisco mixture, then add the yeast mixture.
  4. Gradually stir in the unsifted, plain flour until a soft dough forms.
  5. Place the dough in the refrigerator overnight.
  6. Knead the chilled dough 25 times.
  7. Roll out the dough, cut into desired shapes, and let rise for 2 hours.
  8. Bake at 450°F (232°C) for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
